I rarely buy California Cabernet. However, there are exceptions that I buy regularly. California’s classic contrast – wine you run from juxtaposed to wine you can’t get enough of. Philip Togni is in the latter category for me.
For more background, I’ve written about Togni before. The 2008 is already drinking very well. It is a large wine and absolutely overflowing with fruit. It is extremely aromatic right now. This is tempered by classic, more bitter, Cabernet tobacco notes on the finish and a seam of minerality. Harmonious and big boned.
For lovers of California Cabernet as wine not cola.
