Carlisle Sierra Mar Santa Lucia Highlands Syrah 2010

Posted by

Life is busy and full of changes. In such contexts, a steady Syrah that knows what it is about gives comfort. There is no animality, florals or nuance to this wine. There is directness, beautiful, expressive fruit, and the purest cassis.

A happy wine for just the right touch of unserious noncontemplation. And the irony is only halfway. The reason this wine is great and not just good is because it gives you the emotional satisfaction of complex, nuanced wine with the quilted security of plush, easy to understand fruit driven wine. And yet it is not quite either.

Difficult to get off mailing list, but possible. Opened by me using a keychain with waves crashing in the background, just a few metres off the Oregon coast.

$50 USD at K&L, San Francisco

Opening wine with a key chain next to waves crashing in framed by a sunset….does it get any better??

Just bought a bunch of this for $25 off WineBid. So hard to go wrong at that price from this producer. Hope all is well Shea!

Tom – at that price it is a no brainer! Let me know what you think when you have it.
